The 6th Responsible Gaming Day (RGD) provided an opportunity for a fact-based discussion of best practices for responsible gaming and betting in the EU.
The first edition in 2008 opened the debate with a broad discussion of the numerous issues the sector faces. In 2009, the RGD focused on “Integrity and Sport”. The day in 2010 examined the gambling sector’s contribution to the Digital Agenda and the announcement of the Green Paper on online gambling in the Internal Market. 2011 looked at the role of online gambling standards. Last year built on the debate launched by the European Commission’s Green Paper on identifying what measures are needed to ensure the development of attractive legal online gambling offers in the EU.
This year’s programme sought to generate an informed and vibrant discussion that has made a real contribution to policy discussions on the first anniversary of the Commission’s action plan on online gambling. Has a framework been successfully put in place that enables attractive legal offers to consumers; what have been the main achievements of the Action Plan; what policy options are available to decision-makers going forward into the next legislature in 2014?
The roundtable was followed by a networking buffet lunch.
